Did you ever see the TV series, Boston Legal or any other American legal series? Have you wondered when Nollywood was going to make something of the sorts? Wonder no more, as a new series titled Eko Law, directed by Kunle Afolayan will explore the legal side
The series, which according to Pulse is an initiative of the Nigerian Law School, Lagos campus, is aimed at enlightening people on their legal rights and also to illustrate the difference between the laws of Lagos/Nigeria and the laws of other countries around the world.
I’ve not been this excited about any Nigerian TV series since the early days of Superstory. This is because, although I took a couple of Law courses in the University, I know very little of how the Nigerian legal system works.
A teaser for Eko Law was recently released, and if it is any indication of what to expect, then we are in for a thrill ride when the series drops (whenever that is). The teaser stars Lere Paimo, Bimbo Manuel, Monalisa Chinda, Carol King, Kiki Omeili, Shaffy Bello, Ronke Oshodi Oke, Yemi Shodimu and Ibrahim Kuta.
Afolayan has announced on his Instagram page that the teaser is just a test, and details of full casting and shooting of the first 13 episodes will be announced soon.
Also, the platform on which the series would be broadcast is of particular interest to me. While it makes a lot of sense that the show will head to Africa Magic, I also hope it’s made available on VoD platforms. This way, the show would be available to Nigerians in the Diaspora, as well as those of us who love to binge watch TV series.
