Although it gives us very little as to the overall makeup of the film, the newly released teaser gives us the first look at actor, Michael Fassbender, who plays the role of the Jobs, as well as Kate Winslet, Jeff Daniels and Seth Rogen.
Written by Aaron Sorkin and directed by Danny Boyle, the movie is set backstage at three iconic product launches and ends in 1998 with the unveiling of the iMac. It takes us behind the scenes of the digital revolution and paints an intimate portrait of the brilliant man at its epicenter.
The film stars Kate Winslet stars as Joanna Hoffman, former marketing chief of Macintosh. Steve Wozniak, who co-founded Apple, is played by Seth Rogen, and Jeff Daniels stars as former Apple CEO John Sculley. Katherine Waterston plays Chrisann Brennan, Jobs’ ex-girlfriend, and Michael Stuhlbarg is Andy Hertzfeld, one of the original members of the Apple Macintosh development team.
This is not the first Steve Jobs biopic to have been released since his death. In 2013, another was released and it featured Ashton Kutcher as Jobs. Needless to say, the movie was a terrible one, and I hope this one does a lot more justice to the memory of a man credited to have changed the world for the better.
With Aaron Sorkin (The Newsroom, The West wing) responsible for the screenplay, I’m certain viewers are in for a real treat when the movie hits theaters on October 9.
