Over the years, more and more filmmakers have come to adopt the found footage style for their horror movies. I personally think it is the best way to go with this genre, as it brings the viewers into the story. Once a horror movie can do this, it is going to be a success. Some examples of films that have employed the Found footage style are: the Paranormal Activity franchise, The Last Exorcism, As Above, So below, and so on.
A new film is about to be added to the list when The Gallows hits cinemas on July 10. The movie is set 20 years after a horrific accident during a small town school play, students at the school resurrect the failed show in a misguided attempt to honor the anniversary of the tragedy – but soon discover that some things are better left alone.
The film was written and directed by Travis Cluff and Chris Lofing, and stars, Cassidy Gifford, Pfeifer Brown and Ryan Shoos.
Going by the trailer, I’m not sure I’m going to be seeing this one. It looks a little too scary for me. But if you’re a buff of the horror genre, then this is one you should see.
