the notebookThe CW is reported to be joining efforts with author Nicholas Sparks to bring the 2004 movie, The Notebook, to the small screen.

According to THR, the series will follow the romantic journey of the two beloved central characters, Noah (played by Ryan Gosling in the feature film) and Allie (Rachel McAdams), at the outset of their blossoming relationship as they build their lives and their future together against the backdrop of the racial politics, economic inequities and social mores of post-World War II in the late 1940s in North Carolina.

Still in development, The Notebook series will be written by Todd Graff, who also serves as executive producer alongside Nicholas Sparks and Theresa Park.

“The Notebook is a very well-received book and motion picture. It is going to be set after World War II. At this point, the pilot is not done. I don’t believe we’re going to see the older couple — what they become — but again, things change and we’re just now in the development stage,” Mark Pedowitz, CW president said.
