Taraji Henson, David Oyelowo, Others Win Big At Critics’ Choice Television Awards

Taraji Henson at the Critics' Choice Television awardsThe Critics’ Choice Television Awards held yesterday at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in California, rewarding 18 of the best television series.

HBO dominated the day, walking away with 7 awards for Olive Kitteridge, Bessie, Silicon Valley, Nightingale and so on. In second place came FX with four awards for Archer, American Horror Story: Freak show, Justified and The Americans.

The award for the best drama series went to The Americans (FX), while HBO’s Silicon Valley took home the award for Best Comedy series. Bob Odenkirk took home the award for Best Actor in a Drama series for Better Call Saul (AMC), while Jeffrey Tambor was awarded Best Actor in a Comedy series for Transparent (Amazon).

As expected (by me), David Oyelowo walked away with the award for Best actor in a movie or limited series for his role in one man film, Nightingale (HBO). Empire star, Taraji P. Henson took home the award for Best Actress in a drama series for Empire, while Amy Schmer won Best actress in a comedy series for Inside Amy Schumer.

Also, “American Crime Story” (FX), “Aquarius” (NBC), “Blindspot” (NBC), “Minority Report” (FOX), “The Muppets” (ABC), Scream Queens (FOX), Supergirl (CBS), and “UnREAL” (Lifetime) were named as the Most Exciting New Series.

Game of Thrones was conspicuously missing.
