Stephanie Linus’ Dry Gets August Release Date

Dry PosterAfter a very long wait, fans of the Nigerian movie industry will finally get the opportunity to see Stephanie Linus’ new film, Dry, when it hits cinemas across the country on August 14.

The announcement was made by Stephanie Linus through her Instagram account yesterday.

Inspired by true events, Dry is a socially aware movie that tells the story of a thirteen-year-old girl, Halima, whose poor uneducated parents marry her off to a 60 year old man, who constantly rapes her. Halima gets pregnant and suffers Vesicovaginal Fistula (VVF) after child delivery; she’s consequently abandoned by her husband and discriminated against in the society. Things start to change however, when Halima meets a medical doctor who also suffered a horrific childhood.

The film stars Liz Benson Ameye, Darwin Shaw, Bill McNamara and Stephanie Linus, who also serves as director and co-producer.
