Today, top Nollywood stars took to the streets of Lagos to protest against the activities of pirates. Today’s march comes on the heel of the pirating of several high profile movies, including 30 Days in Atlanta and Kunle Afolayan’s October 1.
Those present at the protest march include Tunde Kelani, Adebayo Salami, Jide Kosoko, Saeed Mohammed, Yomi Fash Lanso, and Iyabo Ojo.
The march began in the heart of Ikeja, and ended at the Government House in Alausa, where the Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Raji Fashola addressed the protesters.
Some of the demands made by the protesters include an overhaul of the Nigerian Copyright Commission, and closure of Alaba International Market.
Piracy is the single biggest problem facing the Nigerian Film industry today. We at Sodas & Popcorn stand behind Nollywood in saying “NO TO PIRACY!”
