News of the deal broke a few months ago, but we can confirm that fans of the movie can now watch the movie on Netflix. The deal means that the Nollywood thriller would be available to more than 50 million subscribers in over 40 countries across the world.
Desmond Elliot’s Finding mercy, Onye Ozi and Forgetting June, are the other Nollywood available for streaming on the site.
The development was made known by Funa Maduka (according to her linkedin profile, she is a Content Acquisition – Global Independent Feature Films & Documentaries at Netflix), through her twitter page.
@kunleafolayan We did it! Ur beautiful film, OCTOBER 1, is now available to over 50mn Netflix subscribers. Great day for Nollywood!

Afolayan in an interview with The Nation earlier in the year said they had plans of subtitling the movie in 10 different languages. This move will help to open up the movie to a larger audience who may not understand English.
The sad news however is that Netflix is not (yet) available in Nigeria, a situation we hope would change soon.
