Nollywood Cinematographer, Yinka Edward, and His Team Earn BAFTA Nomination


“A Love Story”, a short animated film on which Nigerian cinematographer, Yinka Edward served as co-director of photography, has been nominated for the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA). The film was nominated in the “Best British Short Animation” category.

Yinka Edward who has worked on movies such as “October 1”, “76”, “The Figurine” and “Phone Swap”, recently graduated from the National Film and Television School (NFTS) Beaconsfield, England, where he gained a Masters degree in Film and Television Production with a focus on Cinematography. He worked on the “The Love Story” as his graduating project. 

Yinka’s career as a cinematographer, has been impressive over the years. He has worked on  movies like Mak ‘Kusare’s “90 Degrees” and “Comrade”. In 2007 he joined the team of BBC’s acclaimed series “Wetin Dey,” before heading to Namibia to shoot the country’s first indigenous TV series, “The Ties That Bind.”

A big congratulations to Yinka Edward for the BAFTA nomination. And oh, we can’t forget he also has an AMVCA 2017 Best Cinematography nomination for his work on Izu Ojukwu’s “76,” a category he is one of the front runners to win.

A Love Story was directed by Anushka Kishani Naanayakkara.
