C.J. Obasi is set to premiere his latest work, O-Town, at the 39th edition of the Göteborg Film Festival scheduled to hold from January 29 to February 8, 2016, but the critically acclaimed director is already looking ahead to his next project, Otokoto.
According to reports, Otokoto is set to bring back to life, the gruesome 1996 ritual killings of Owerri in Imo State, Nigeria.
For those not old enough to remember, the Otokoto ritual killings boiled to the surface after Police arrested one Innocent Ekeanyanwu while he was in possession of the head of 11-year old Ikechukwu Okonkwo. Upon further investigation, the headless body of hapless Innocent was exhumed within the premises of Otokoto Hotel, where it was discovered a ritual-killing syndicate operated.
Very little else is known about the film at this time, but Oge and C.J. Obasi could not keep the excitement to themselves (the same way we can’t).
As more information on the project is revealed, be sure we’ll keep you posted.
In the meantime, you can catch the trailer for O-Town in the embedded player below.
