M.Y: Oh, we are reviewing reality shows now? Ugh! This Is really the End.

Zubby: LOOL…Come on M.Y, just because all this characters get to play themselves doesn’t mean it’s a reality TV show.

M.Y: Does Kim Play herself or not in Keeping Up with the Crapdashians?

Zubby: Err yeah she does…. But this one had only one episode bro. So I guess its a movie afterall.

M.Y: Oh please. Reality show na reality show. Anyways lets just get the camera rolling for the review of This Is The End shall we?

Zubby: Sigh… So, while attending a party at James Franco’s house, a couple of Hollywood Celebrities are faced with the apocalypse and somehow have to rely on each other to Survive and make it to Heaven.

The Script

M.Y: As Zubby described up there this is about the Apocalypse and most of the movie is set in James Franco’s house.

Zubby: It’s funny how the better part of this movie was shot in one place but you hardly feel it, because the acting and the comedy takes your mind off it.

M.Y: I found this to be one of the most original scripts of this year.

Zubby: It is definitely very original. The fact that I was watching characters who have made us laugh over the years playing their actual selves.

M.Y: Errr, Except Micheal Cera who plays the total opposite of himself, which was the high on cocain Cera. And boy oh boy was he hilarious or what?

Zubby: We will get to his performance later. Let’s focus on the script for now.

M.Y: Alright then. Now this is supposed to be a cast of the funniest guys in Hollywood at the moment, but the movie wasn’t the best it could have been.

Zubby: Ehn ehn? Oya, what was missing?

M.Y: Well, they did drop a lot of hilarious jokes and references from their previously great and crappy movies but for some reason I can’t lay my hands on, it didn’t do it totally for me.

Zubby: Well, bla bla bla. I don’t know all this grammar you are speaking bro. This is the funniest movie of the year. Dear audience please don’t listen to him.

The Directing

M.Y: Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg who have previously co-written a couple of movies like Pineapple Express, Superbad and Green Hornet, and have proven to be a cool writing team, teamed up to direct their first movie in This is The End.

Zubby: Personally, I feel this is a great effort for a raunchy, explicit and dirty kinda comedy. Oh, by the way, your kids shouldn’t hear some of the things going on in the movie so this is a strictly adult affair.

M.Y: He’s not kidding here. This movie aint for kids younger than 18.

Zubby: I liked the editing of the movie. You can predict that a whole lot of scenes were cut out due to so much fun being had by the actors.

M.Y: Even with a narrow budget of 32 million dollars for the entire movie, the visuals in the movie seemed really good.

Zubby: I think that’s the cool thing about Seth & Evan. They’re really bankable. Look at the cost and income of some of their previous movies like Super Bad & Pineapple Express.

M.Y: Definitely bankable guys. Although they asked for a much larger budget, the studio wasn’t gonna take a risk. So they had to make do with this. Cool effort folks.

The Acting

M.Y: WOW!…Where do we start… Zubby what do you think about the acting?

Zubby: Michael Cera had sort of the best cameo appearance here. Maybe he could have featured longer, he still was able to show that there’s more to him than we saw in Scott Pilgrim.

M.Y: Jonah Hill‘s money ball introduction, Channing Tatum‘s character, Emma Watson’s rape fighting campaign…these guys were great. ALL OF THEM. I was really impressed. What I felt about the acting was this came kinda easy to them because they had some level of their personalities in it.

Zubby: What I really loved about the acting was the collabo of James Franco & Danny McBride. Really loved it.

The Verdict

M.Y: This is a really fun movie, and it is quite original, but not so memorable for me. So it gets a Popcorn and Hotdog from me, basically because it is good but kinda hard to swallow.

Zubby: What’s hard to swallow?? Once again folks, do not take this man seriously. One quick advice, go and see this movie with your closest male friends as a guy and closest female friends as a lady.

M.Y: And it’s a wrap folks. Hope you enjoyed the review. If you have seen the movie, lets know what you think.

Zubby: One last thing before you go folks, please nominate us in the category for best movie blog in the upcoming Nigerian Blog Awards. Follow this link here to nominate us www.nigerianblogawards.com/register2013.php

M.Y: Gracias and God bless.
