Filmone Distribution is turning the game on its head, with the announcement that it has begun receiving story proposals from first time film writers.
In a statement released via their Twitter handle (@FilmoneNG), the distribution arm of Filmhouse Cinemas confirmed the opportunity will be open to writers both within and outside the country until the 29th of February 2016.
Interested candidates are to send their story proposal and CV to the company’s Head of Content Production, Don Omope, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
This development is great news for Nollywood. There’s been clamour for new stories from and about Nigeria, and this is a great way for those stories to be told. My fear however is that the Nigerian “man know man” syndrome might somehow find its way into the mix, which does not do anyone any good.
If you are an aspiring screenwriter or know anyone who would be interested in this, we implore you to start sending those stories in.
