Some Nollywood practitioners recently took to the streets of Lagos to protest the effect of piracy on their business and seek the support of the Lagos State government in combating the menace. Among them were Kunle Afolayan, Tunde Kelani, Kehinde Bankole, and the list goes on.
The new twist to that story however is that popular OAP, Freeze of Cool fm, has come out to blast these Nollywood stars, claiming they are hypocrites, since they patronize fake products too.
In a message posted on his Instagram page yesterday, Freeze posted the picture of a website where he claims fake wristwatches are being sold. He also said the actors were only concerned because piracy hurt them, and if they stopped patronizing websites that sell fake watches and other luxury items, maybe then, people will stop pirating their movies too.
Check out the Instagram post below.
Celebrities marching against piracy yet they wear fake (Pirated) watches. Stop patronizing sites like these and maybe, just maybe they would stop pirating your movies and music. Funny thing about piracy is that it only hurts when it’s been done to you! The same way it hurts when your material is being pirated is the same way it hurts #Rolex #FranckMuller #Cartier #Hublot #Panerai #Patek etc.
Freeze is attributed to several controversial statements, but do you think he has overdone it this time?
