Kunle Afolayan has released (via his Instagram page) character posters for his upcoming film, The CEO, which would feature a cross section of African actors, including Hilda Dokubo, Wale Ojo, Jimmy Jean Louis, Angelique Kidjo, Lala Akindoju, Peter King, Nico Panagio and Aurelie Eliam. You can check out the character posters below.
The CEO follows the story of five senior level staff at TransWire Communications, a global phone network which is in search for a new CEO for its Nigerian branch. The former CEO, an expatriate, has retired hence the Global Chairman has decided to choose a new one. To aid in his decision, the global head sends these five on a Leadership course in order to determine which one to appoint as the new CEO of Nigeria.
All five arrive from their respective destinations and check into the beach resort where the course is holding. Although they all appear cordial and chummy with each other, they all know what is at stake – they each desperately want the CEO’s chair. And to this purpose, they attempt to covertly outdo one another throughout the duration of the course.
Judging from Kunle Afolayan’s body of work, we can expect nothing but a really good movie. Of note however is the fact that promotion of the film has already started, even though shooting is still on. This is the kind of thing we want to see more of from Nollywood. I’ve seen way too many times when a Nigerian film is not announced until about two weeks before its release, and this does not exactly help the movie at the box office.
Hopefully, the marketing team for The CEO keeps up the momentum and if other factors fall into place, then this might just be the movie to watch out for in 2016 (assuming the movie does get released in 2016).
