On Friday 17th April 2015, writer, comedian, actor and director Charles Inojie emerged as the president elect of the Screen Writers Guild of Nigeria.
Other officers elected into positions include, actress, Steph Nora Okere as vice-president; the former financial secretary, Mr. Fredrick Atigogo as the national secretary and Mr. Ekine Stronghold emerged as the national P.R.O.
Congratulatory messages are already pouring in from professionals in the industry praising the quality of the elected officers, the Screen Writers Guild of Nigeria, which is the most fundamental guild in Nollywood had gone through rough times, but it is now poised to retake its rightful place in the industry.
In his acceptance speech Mr. Charles Inojie promised to inject new life into the guild and use his clout to attract goodwill to the guild. He said he is committed to uniting writers of all genres of screen writing and position the guild to look out for the general welfare and prosperity of all its members.
