Straight Outta Compton posterIt’s one thing for your film to be loved and praised by critics and fans, it is another for a fellow filmmaker to genuinely praise and appreciate your work, especially in public.

After an impressive weekend at the Box Office, N.W.A biopic, Straight Outta Compton, got another feather to its hat when Ava DuVernay, director of the critically acclaimed Selma went on Twitter to heap praises on the film.

The director had seen the movie at the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza in South Central Los Angeles on Saturday night and she shared her positive review over 18 tweets yesterday morning.

“Congratulations to @FGaryGray and all involved. Another classic now under his belt. Your craft and care is on full display. Bravo, brother,” she said.

She also praised the film’s acting, cinematography, production design and costume and made special mention of Sunday on the ‘Shaw’ sequence. “I can’t tell you what it was, what it felt like. You had to be there. @FGaryGray gets you as close as you’ll ever get.”
