It’s no longer news that the new fantastic four film tanked at the Box Office in its opening weekend. Costing 21st Century Fox $120million, the Josh Trank directed movie was only able to make a measly $26million and received a 9 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which does not help its standing in the long run.
Fox might have accepted that they might have to take a loss on this one, but analysts have projected the loss could run into as much as $60million.
The bar had been set pretty low by the 2005 Fantastic Four movie, and many were of the opinion that nothing could be worse than that, but Josh Trank’s version has set the bar even lower.
Mission: Impossible- Rogue Nation won the battle for top spot over the weekend, earning a total of about $95million worldwide. Though the film was in its second week, the film was still able to muster enough earnings to push it above Fantastic Four.
Fantastic Four is not likely to have it any easier this weekend, as Guy Ritchie’s The Man From U.N.C.L.E. joins the battle for Box Office supremacy.
